Vaasavi Group Plans Direct Metro-to-Township Skywalk in Hyderabad

Hyderabad-based Vaasavi Group has announced plans to construct an elevated skywalk connecting LB Nagar Metro Station directly with its Vasavi Ananda Nilayam residential township, aiming to improve last-mile pedestrian connectivity for residents and metro commuters.

The proposed skywalk will provide a direct elevated connection from the metro station concourse to the township, reducing the need for pedestrians to cross a section of NH-65 where pedestrian infrastructure is currently limited. According to project details shared by the developer, the existing walking journey takes around 10 to 12 minutes, while the proposed connection could bring the travel time down to approximately two to three minutes.

The project is being developed through Vaasavi Avenues LLP and SR Infra & Developers. Once completed, the facility is expected to provide direct metro access to around 3,600 residents of Vasavi Ananda Nilayam, while also supporting pedestrian movement for other commuters using LB Nagar Metro Station.

The skywalk has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (LTMRHL), along with a Traffic Police NOC from the DCP Traffic-II, Malkajgiri. Additional permissions related to traffic diversions during construction are still required before barricading and site work can begin.

The structure has been designed and proof-checked by IIT Hyderabad. Project plans include 10 principal pillars, each measuring 5.94 metres in diameter and 8.64 metres in height. The pillars are planned along the footpath adjoining NH-65, with spacing of approximately 12 to 14 metres.

The elevated pedestrian route will include staircases, ramps and lifts. The design also includes an additional pillar within the project boundary to accommodate potential future widening of the service road.

Vaasavi Group has stated that construction is scheduled to be completed within 180 days, or six months, from the execution of its agreement with LTMRHL. The developer will oversee construction, manpower, execution and maintenance requirements associated with the project.

The skywalk comes as Hyderabad continues to expand its metro-linked residential and urban infrastructure network. Vaasavi Group is currently working towards delivering nearly 5,000 flats across projects including Atlantics, Lake City and Urban, with handovers planned progressively from December 2026.
