Chennai-based deep-tech startup Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions has partnered with global construction technology company 14Trees to develop and launch ‘Cedar’, a next-generation 3D concrete printer aimed at transforming automated construction across global markets.

Designed and manufactured in India, Cedar combines advanced robotics, large-format printing capability and AI-driven material optimisation to make construction 3D printing more scalable and commercially viable. The launch marks another major milestone for India’s growing construction technology ecosystem, especially in the field of automated and sustainable building solutions.

Unlike conventional construction 3D printing systems that rely heavily on expensive mortar-based materials, Cedar has been engineered to work with standard concrete formulations. According to the companies, this innovation can reduce material costs by up to five times while also allowing the use of locally sourced materials in different geographies.

Industry experts believe the ability to lower construction costs while improving speed and efficiency could significantly accelerate the adoption of 3D printing technology in mainstream housing and infrastructure projects.

Francois Perrot, CEO of 14Trees, said the technology has already demonstrated technical feasibility globally, but economic viability remains the key factor for wider adoption. He added that Cedar was specifically designed to improve project economics for developers and contractors seeking scalable automation solutions.

Tvasta CEO Adithya V S said the platform integrates robotics, software and advanced manufacturing capabilities to deliver reliable performance across varied construction environments. He noted that the system has been developed to support projects ranging from residential housing to commercial infrastructure.

The companies stated that Cedar has already been deployed across projects in the US, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. With rising global demand for faster and sustainable construction methods, the launch of Cedar positions India as an emerging hub for construction technology innovation.
