Shree Cement is set to strengthen its manufacturing presence in Tamil Nadu with an investment of ₹838 crore in a new facility in Tiruvallur district.

The foundation stone for the project was laid during the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026 in Chennai, marking the formal start of a project expected to add fresh industrial capacity in one of the state’s key manufacturing regions.

The proposed facility is expected to create around 400 direct employment opportunities once operational. The investment is also likely to support demand for local services, logistics and other ancillary activities around the project location.

Tiruvallur has emerged as an important industrial district in Tamil Nadu because of its proximity to Chennai and its access to major road, rail and port infrastructure. The district hosts manufacturing activity across sectors, making it a natural location for companies looking to serve both the Chennai market and wider southern India.

For Shree Cement, the new investment comes as the company continues to expand its manufacturing footprint in markets where construction activity and infrastructure development are generating demand for cement. Tamil Nadu remains an important market, supported by large-scale urban development, industrial projects, highways, housing and other infrastructure investments.

The project was among the investments highlighted at the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave, where companies announced and formalised projects across multiple sectors and districts.

The addition of Shree Cement’s new facility is expected to further strengthen the industrial ecosystem around Tiruvallur while creating opportunities for local employment and supporting businesses.

With Chennai and its surrounding industrial corridors continuing to attract large manufacturing investments, projects such as this could add further momentum to Tiruvallur’s position as an important industrial destination in northern Tamil Nadu.
