India’s push to build a stronger domestic electronics manufacturing ecosystem has received another boost, with the government approving 31 fresh proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme, or ECMS.
The newly approved projects involve a combined investment of ₹7,877 crore and will be spread across 10 states. According to IT Secretary S Krishnan, the projects are expected to generate production worth ₹82,243 crore and create close to 10,000 jobs.
The latest approvals cover a wide range of electronics components and manufacturing inputs. These include capital goods, camera and display modules, anode materials, enclosures, connectors, transducers, rare-earth permanent magnets and optical transceivers.
The approved projects also include manufacturing of relays, hermetic terminals, electrolyte additives, antennas, metallised films for capacitors, coils, filters and capacitors. An enhanced investment in copper-clad laminates, which had received approval earlier, is also part of the latest development.
Companies named among the approved applicants include GX Group, Centum Electronics, Ennovi Mobility Solutions, Allied Engineering Works, Globe Capacitors, Syrma SGS Technology, Rosenberger Interconnect, Sensata Technologies and Britannia RFID Technologies.
With this latest round, the government has now cleared 106 applications under the ECMS. These projects cover around 30 product categories across 15 states, taking the cumulative approved investment under the scheme to ₹69,548 crore.
The approved projects are expected to generate production worth ₹5,34,101 crore, highlighting the scale of the government’s effort to develop manufacturing capacity for components that form the backbone of the electronics industry.
The ECMS was notified in April 2025 with an initial financial outlay of ₹22,919 crore. The allocation was subsequently increased to ₹40,000 crore in the Union Budget 2026-27.
The scheme is aimed at strengthening domestic production of electronics components and reducing gaps in the supply chain. A broader and more capable component manufacturing base could also help Indian electronics manufacturers improve sourcing and production capabilities within the country.
The initiative comes as India targets a $500 billion electronics manufacturing sector by 2030-31. The latest project approvals indicate that component manufacturing is increasingly becoming a key part of that expansion, with investments spreading across multiple states and a growing range of specialised products.
