Tamil Nadu has taken a significant step towards strengthening its position as a leading manufacturing destination in India by signing Memoranda of Understanding worth ₹5,980 crore with global electronics major MinebeaMitsumi and Bengaluru based Aequs Group. The agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin at the Secretariat, reinforcing the state’s continued focus on high value manufacturing and technology driven investments.

According to an official release, the combined investment is expected to generate around 8,400 jobs across the semiconductor and aerospace sectors. This development aligns with Tamil Nadu’s broader industrial strategy to attract advanced manufacturing projects that bring both employment and technology transfer.

As part of the agreement, NMB Minebea India Private Limited will invest ₹1,980 crore to establish a manufacturing and research and development centre in Tiruvallur at the Mahindra Origins Industrial Park. The proposed facility will focus on building a comprehensive ecosystem for high value semiconductor components including Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors and Integrated Circuits, along with motors and sensors. The project is expected to strengthen India’s domestic semiconductor capabilities at a time when global supply chains are undergoing realignment.

Meanwhile, Aequs Group’s investment will support expansion in the aerospace segment, further enhancing Tamil Nadu’s emerging status as a hub for precision engineering and advanced manufacturing. Industry observers note that such strategic investments will improve supply chain resilience and boost exports from the state.

With strong policy support, skilled talent availability and world class industrial infrastructure, Tamil Nadu continues to attract global manufacturers seeking long term growth in India.
