JSW to Set Up 1,166-Acre Industrial Park in Vizianagaram

The Andhra Pradesh government has granted approval for JSW Industrial Park to establish a mega industrial park in S Kota, Vizianagaram district. The project marks a significant development in the state’s industrial expansion strategy, as it revives land that was previously earmarked for an alumina refinery.

JSW Industrial Park, formerly known as Jindal South West Aluminium Limited, had acquired 1,166 acres several years ago for a proposed 1.5 million-tonne alumina refinery with an investment of around ₹4,000 crore. The plan was shelved following challenges related to bauxite mining permissions. Now, through Government Order (GO No. 184), the state government has provided the necessary approvals to repurpose the land for a large-scale industrial park.

The government’s support includes key infrastructure facilities such as water supply, power connectivity, and land-use benefits. In the initial phase, water will be sourced from the Mehadrigedda reservoir and later shifted to the Thatipudi reservoir. The water will be provided at a subsidised rate of ₹25 per kilolitre for 25 years, ensuring sustainable operations for industries within the park. To meet energy demands, two substations will be established to supply a total of 25 MW of power.

Additionally, JSW will receive a 100 percent concession on land-use conversion, further encouraging the company’s investment. The upcoming industrial park is expected to attract a wide range of industries, generating employment opportunities and supporting the regional economy of north coastal Andhra Pradesh.

However, despite these advancements, certain local farmers continue to raise concerns, seeking the return of their land. The state government is reportedly addressing these grievances through consultations and compensation measures to ensure equitable development.

The Vizianagaram project underscores Andhra Pradesh’s growing appeal as a manufacturing and investment hub, backed by supportive industrial policies and infrastructure incentives. JSW’s commitment to reviving its long-pending project aligns with the government’s broader vision to enhance industrial growth and job creation across the state.
