Centum Electronics is set to step up its manufacturing presence in Karnataka with a planned investment of ₹500 crore over the next four years. The proposed expansion is expected to create around 1,500 jobs, giving a fresh boost to the state’s growing defence electronics and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries M B Patil announced the investment on August 7 following a meeting with Nikhil Mallavarapu, Joint Managing Director of Centum Electronics, at Khanija Bhavan in Bengaluru.

The proposed investment is part of a memorandum of understanding signed during the Invest Karnataka Global Investors Meet. The expansion is expected to strengthen Centum Electronics’ manufacturing and technology capabilities in the state while adding to Karnataka’s employment base in high-value industrial segments.

The investment comes as Karnataka continues to position itself as a major destination for electronics, aerospace, defence and technology-led manufacturing. The state has been actively pursuing new investments through investor outreach programmes and industry engagements, with a focus on attracting projects that bring both capital and skilled employment.

For Centum Electronics, the planned investment will further deepen its presence in Karnataka’s defence electronics sector. The company operates in areas including electronic systems, manufacturing and engineering solutions, serving customers across strategic and industrial markets.

The creation of around 1,500 jobs is particularly significant as defence electronics manufacturing becomes increasingly important to India’s broader industrial and strategic objectives. Expansion in this segment can also generate opportunities across component manufacturing, engineering services, testing, supply chains and other supporting industries.

The announcement also highlights Karnataka’s continued efforts to attract investment beyond the technology services sector. While Bengaluru remains a major technology hub, the state is increasingly looking to expand its industrial base through advanced manufacturing and strategic sectors.

The proposed ₹500-crore investment will therefore be closely watched as Centum Electronics progresses with its expansion plans. For Karnataka, the project adds another significant investment commitment to its growing defence and electronics manufacturing pipeline, while for Centum Electronics, it represents an opportunity to scale operations in one of India’s most established technology and industrial markets.
