Carrier Global Corporation has officially commenced construction of its ₹863 crore air conditioning and refrigeration manufacturing facility at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh, marking a major boost for the state’s industrial and manufacturing sector. The upcoming facility will be Carrier’s first manufacturing unit in South India and is expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position as a leading hub for cooling solutions and advanced manufacturing.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh along with senior executives from Carrier Global and Sri City. The project is being developed on a 39 acre site within the Sri City Special Economic Zone in Tirupati district.

According to the company, the new facility will focus on manufacturing advanced chillers and energy efficient cooling systems catering to both domestic and international markets. The plant is also expected to significantly enhance local supply chains and support export operations through nearby ports.

Carrier Global Chairman and CEO David L. Gitlin stated that the ₹863 crore investment reflects the company’s long term commitment towards innovation, sustainability and manufacturing expansion in India. The facility is expected to begin operations by the end of next year.

Speaking at the event, Nara Lokesh said Andhra Pradesh is rapidly emerging as India’s cooling manufacturing capital with major investments flowing into the HVAC and electronics sectors. He added that the state currently hosts several air conditioner manufacturers and component suppliers, supported by proactive industrial policies and infrastructure development.

Industry experts believe the Carrier project will create strong opportunities for ancillary industries, logistics providers and local employment. Nearly 3,000 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be generated through the project.

Sri City founder Ravindra Sannareddy said the investment further strengthens Sri City’s reputation as one of India’s fastest growing integrated business cities attracting global manufacturers across sectors.
