ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has launched AM/NS Pelican, a new premium galvanised steel brand aimed at customers looking for corrosion-resistant and durable steel products across construction, infrastructure, manufacturing and engineering applications.

The launch comes as demand for galvanised steel continues to expand in India, supported by infrastructure development, industrial activity and the growing preference for materials that require less maintenance over their service life.

AM/NS Pelican has been developed with a focus on consistent quality, corrosion protection and long-term performance. The company said the product combines uniform coating quality with good formability, making it suitable for applications where both durability and ease of fabrication are important.

The new galvanised steel product can be used across a broad range of applications, including roofing and roof-support sections, tubes, air-conditioning and ventilation systems, cable trays, fencing, furniture, drums and barrels, as well as other general engineering requirements.

The Indian galvanised steel market was estimated at 7.65 million tonnes in 2025 and is expected to grow at around 8% annually through 2030, indicating the potential for further demand for coated steel products.

AM/NS Pelican will be manufactured using AM/NS India’s existing galvanising capabilities and distributed through the company’s customer and distribution network across the country. The product becomes the latest addition to the company’s portfolio of specialised steel offerings.

Pelican follows the launch of two other specialised brands, Structromax and Weldstar. Structromax is positioned for infrastructure and structural applications, while Weldstar caters to manufacturers of heavy equipment and machinery requiring high-strength steel. Pelican, by contrast, focuses on applications where corrosion resistance and long-term durability are key requirements.

The company’s latest product expansion also reflects the broader shift among steel manufacturers towards value-added and application-specific products rather than relying solely on conventional steel offerings.

For construction and industrial users, the emphasis on corrosion protection is particularly relevant in applications exposed to weather and demanding operating conditions. By combining galvanised coating performance with consistent manufacturing quality, AM/NS India is positioning Pelican as a specialised solution for these segments.
