The Ministry of Steel and its public sector undertakings (PSUs) are set to participate in Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with the latest drive placing greater emphasis on e-waste management, workplace cleanliness and administrative efficiency.
The campaign comes with four broad priorities: proper handling of e-waste, mechanised cleaning, clearance of pending matters and greater public awareness around cleanliness. The ministry said the initiative will be implemented as part of its continuing efforts to improve workplace hygiene and strengthen sustainable administrative practices.
A key area this year is the collection, segregation and disposal of electronic waste in line with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. The focus is expected to cover offices and establishments under the Ministry of Steel and its PSUs, with an emphasis on ensuring that discarded electronic equipment is handled through appropriate processes.
Mechanised cleaning is another focus of the campaign. The approach is aimed at improving workplace hygiene while making cleaning operations more efficient.
The ministry will also push for the disposal of pending references involving the Prime Minister’s Office, state governments, Parliament and VIP references. The clearance of old files and records will form part of the exercise, alongside efforts to improve record management and optimise office space.
Special Campaign 6.0 is being conducted in two phases. The preparatory phase runs from September 15 to September 30, during which targets will be identified and groundwork completed. The implementation phase begins on October 2 and continues until October 31, focusing on execution, monitoring and assessment of measurable outcomes.
The initiative builds on Special Campaign 5.0 conducted in October 2025. During the earlier campaign, the ministry and its PSUs worked on clearing pending matters, disposing of obsolete records and making better use of available office space. Subsequent efforts included streamlining scrap disposal, removing outdated records and improving grievance handling.
Digital platforms and outreach programmes will also be used during the latest campaign to create wider awareness and encourage participation in cleanliness activities.
For the Ministry of Steel, the campaign extends beyond a one-month cleanliness exercise. The stated objective is to make cleanliness, sustainable practices, grievance redressal and administrative efficiency part of regular governance across its offices and public sector undertakings.
