Andhra Pradesh has secured proposed investments worth ₹1,614 crore from three South Korean automotive component manufacturers linked to the Hyundai-Kia supply chain, with the companies planning to establish manufacturing facilities in Anantapur. The projects are expected to strengthen the state’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem and generate approximately 1,418 jobs.
The three companies, Hwashin, Seoyon and Iwamet, have signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the Andhra Pradesh government. Their proposed investments are expected to expand the state’s automotive component manufacturing base, particularly in the Rayalaseema region.
Among the three companies, Hwashin has proposed the largest investment of ₹850 crore, with an expected employment generation of 100 jobs. Seoyon plans to invest ₹514 crore and is expected to create 918 jobs. Iwamet has committed a proposed investment of ₹250 crore, with around 400 jobs anticipated.
Together, the projects represent a proposed investment of ₹1,614 crore and could create employment opportunities for more than 1,400 people once the facilities are established and operational.
Anantapur strengthens its automotive manufacturing presence
The proposed investments are significant for Anantapur, which has been developing as an automotive manufacturing destination in Andhra Pradesh. The region already has an established connection with the automobile industry through Kia’s manufacturing operations near Penukonda.
The arrival of additional component manufacturers could help expand the local supplier network and improve the availability of automotive parts closer to vehicle manufacturing facilities. Such industrial clustering can also support ancillary businesses, logistics operators and other service providers connected to the automobile sector.
For the Rayalaseema region, the proposed facilities could bring additional industrial activity and employment opportunities while strengthening its position in India’s automotive supply chain.
South Korea outreach precedes investment commitments
The investment proposals follow Andhra Pradesh IT, Electronics and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh’s visit to South Korea in July 2026. During the visit, he held discussions with companies operating within the Hyundai-Kia automotive supply chain.
The state’s Economic Development Board subsequently continued discussions with the manufacturers to advance the proposed investments.
The decision by Hwashin, Seoyon and Iwamet to select Anantapur for their proposed expansion highlights the state’s efforts to attract overseas manufacturing companies and develop industrial clusters around existing automotive operations.
Implementation remains the next milestone
While the three companies have signed MoUs with the state government, the projects are still at the proposal stage. Their actual implementation will depend on subsequent project development, investment execution and the establishment of manufacturing facilities.
If completed as proposed, the three projects could add ₹1,614 crore to Andhra Pradesh’s industrial investment pipeline while creating around 1,418 jobs and expanding the state’s automotive component manufacturing ecosystem.
