Adani Ports Records 27% Cargo Growth in October

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) handled 51 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in October 2026, registering a 27% increase compared with the corresponding month last year. The latest monthly performance reflects stronger cargo movement across its major business segments, with dry cargo accounting for the largest share of growth.

According to the company’s operational update, dry cargo volumes increased by 36% year-on-year during October. Container cargo and liquid cargo volumes also recorded growth of 21% each, indicating a broad-based improvement in cargo handling activity across the port network.

Domestic ports contributed to the overall performance as well, recording an 18% year-on-year increase in cargo volumes. The growth points to continued activity across India’s industrial and logistics sectors, where ports remain important gateways for the movement of raw materials, finished goods and international trade shipments.

Dry Cargo Leads Monthly Expansion

The dry cargo segment emerged as the strongest contributor to APSEZ’s October performance. Its 36% growth outpaced the increase recorded in container and liquid cargo operations.

The container segment expanded by 21%, supported by higher cargo movement through the company’s terminals. Liquid cargo volumes also increased by 21% during the month, adding to the overall improvement.

The latest figures represent an acceleration from September 2026, when APSEZ handled 46 MMT of cargo, recording 11% year-on-year growth. October’s 51 MMT throughput therefore marks an improvement in both monthly cargo volume and the annual growth rate.

Stronger Cargo Movement Across Port Operations

The performance comes amid continued demand for port infrastructure and integrated logistics services. Cargo handling volumes are closely linked to industrial production, commodity movements and export-import activity, making monthly throughput an important indicator of operating performance for port operators.

APSEZ has been expanding its presence across port operations and logistics services, positioning its network to handle different categories of cargo. Consistent growth across dry, container and liquid segments also reduces dependence on a single cargo category.

For the company, sustaining this momentum will depend on cargo demand, operational efficiency, infrastructure utilisation and developments in global trade.

The October performance provides a positive operational update for APSEZ as it enters the remaining months of the financial year. Investors and industry participants will be watching subsequent monthly cargo figures to assess whether the stronger growth trend continues.
