Sundram Fasteners Ltd (SFL) has announced plans to invest ₹400 crore during the current financial year as part of its strategy to expand manufacturing capacity and strengthen its position across key industrial sectors. The investment will support rising demand from the automotive industry while also enhancing production capabilities for renewable energy, aerospace and other precision engineering applications.
The Chennai-headquartered manufacturer said the planned capital expenditure will be directed towards expanding facilities serving internal combustion engine (ICE), plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and electric vehicle (EV) markets. The investment reflects the company’s focus on catering to a diversified customer base as the automotive industry continues its transition towards multiple powertrain technologies.
Out of the total investment, around ₹250 crore will be allocated to the fasteners division. The expansion will increase manufacturing capacity for specialised fasteners used in sectors such as wind energy, aerospace and space applications. These segments are witnessing growing demand for high-performance engineering components as infrastructure and advanced manufacturing projects gather pace.
Another ₹100 crore will be invested in the company’s cast and machined assemblies business. The additional capacity is expected to strengthen production of precision-engineered components supplied to automotive and industrial customers, while supporting future product development and technological upgrades.
The company believes the expansion will also improve its ability to serve customers across India and international markets. Sundram Fasteners has an established presence in the United States and Europe, where it supplies engineered components to leading automotive manufacturers and industrial customers. The additional manufacturing capacity is expected to help the company capitalise on emerging opportunities while maintaining supply chain reliability.
Managing Director Arathi Krishna said the company has entered the new financial year with improving business conditions across key global markets and continued confidence from customers. She noted that the planned investments are aimed at supporting long-term growth and strengthening the company’s manufacturing capabilities across multiple sectors.
With increasing investments in electric mobility, renewable energy and advanced engineering, Sundram Fasteners continues to diversify beyond its traditional automotive business. The latest expansion is expected to enhance production efficiency, broaden its product portfolio and reinforce its position as one of India’s leading precision engineering manufacturers.
