As India’s warehousing and logistics sector continues to expand, Godrej Enterprises Group is preparing to strengthen its manufacturing and intralogistics capabilities through fresh investments in Chennai and Bengaluru. The announcement coincides with the completion of 25 years of operations at the company’s manufacturing facility in Chennai, a key centre for its storage solutions business.
The company plans to enhance automation and expand warehousing infrastructure across both locations, reflecting growing demand from sectors such as e-commerce, quick commerce, manufacturing and third-party logistics. Industry experts note that India’s supply chain ecosystem is undergoing rapid transformation as businesses increasingly invest in automated storage, high-density warehousing and efficient material handling systems.
Godrej’s Chennai facility serves as a major manufacturing and engineering hub for intralogistics solutions. The plant produces automated warehousing systems, racking solutions and rack-clad warehouses designed to improve storage efficiency and maximise the use of available space. The facility also incorporates digital design-to-delivery processes and automation-led manufacturing practices aimed at improving productivity and quality.
The Bengaluru facility, meanwhile, is undergoing capacity expansion to support the execution of larger intralogistics projects across the country. The additional capacity is expected to help the company meet growing demand from customers seeking advanced warehousing and automation solutions.
The timing of the investment reflects the changing nature of India’s logistics landscape. Rising consumption, expanding manufacturing activity and the rapid growth of online commerce have created a strong requirement for modern warehousing infrastructure. Companies are increasingly focusing on automation and technology-driven solutions to improve efficiency while reducing operational costs.
According to Godrej Enterprises Group, the storage solutions business has recorded a compound annual growth rate of 17 per cent over the past five years. The company also claims that one in every three warehouses in India uses Godrej racking solutions, highlighting its strong presence in the sector.
With exports reaching more than 40 countries and continued investments in engineering and automation, the company is positioning itself to capitalise on the next phase of growth in India’s logistics and industrial infrastructure market. The expansion of its Chennai and Bengaluru facilities is expected to play a key role in supporting that strategy.
