Rolls-Royce and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) joint venture International Aerospace Manufacturing Private Ltd (IAMPL) has announced a major expansion of its aerospace manufacturing operations in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, marking another important step in India’s growing aviation and defence manufacturing sector.
The company has unveiled a new 12-acre expansion of its manufacturing hub aimed at increasing the production of advanced jet engine components for both domestic and international aerospace markets. The facility is expected to play a significant role in strengthening India’s position in the global aerospace supply chain while supporting the country’s long-term manufacturing ambitions under the defence and aviation sectors.
According to Rolls-Royce, the expanded production hub will enhance IAMPL’s capability to manufacture sophisticated compressor and turbine components used in modern aircraft engines. The company stated that the facility will operate as an important centre for precision aerospace engineering and advanced component manufacturing.
Located in Hosur, one of Tamil Nadu’s emerging industrial and manufacturing clusters, the expansion is also expected to support local employment generation and supplier ecosystem development. Industry observers believe the project could attract additional investments in aerospace components, precision engineering and aviation support industries in the region.
The announcement comes at a time when India is witnessing increasing investments in indigenous aerospace and defence manufacturing. With growing demand for aircraft engines, defence platforms and aviation infrastructure, global aerospace companies are steadily expanding their manufacturing footprint across the country.
The IAMPL expansion further strengthens Tamil Nadu’s position as a key destination for high-value manufacturing projects. The state has already emerged as a major hub for automobiles, electronics, renewable energy and precision engineering industries. The new aerospace manufacturing facility is expected to contribute to the development of advanced manufacturing capabilities while improving India’s integration into global aviation supply chains.
Industry experts believe such investments will play a crucial role in supporting India’s long-term aerospace ambitions and reducing dependence on imported high-precision aircraft components.
