The Andhra Pradesh government has taken a significant step towards boosting industrial development by approving the allotment of over 424 acres of land in Kadapa district for a proposed integrated steel plant by JSW Steel. The land has been allocated to the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation for a total cost of approximately ₹21 crore.

The identified land parcels are located across multiple villages, including Vemaguntapalli, Sunnapurallapalli, Peddadandluru, Kotha-kuntapalli and Thugutlapalli in Jammalamadugu mandal. The decision follows recommendations from the Andhra Pradesh Land Management Authority, which cleared the proposal earlier this year after detailed evaluation.

JSW Steel, through its subsidiary JSWRSL, has proposed to set up an integrated steel plant with a capacity of 1.0 million tonnes per annum at Sunnapuraallapalle near Jammalamadugu town. The project is expected to strengthen the region’s industrial base and generate employment opportunities, while also contributing to the overall growth of the steel sector in southern India.

The proposed facility will include advanced infrastructure such as an Electric Arc Furnace, Ladle Furnace, fume extraction system, Bloom and Beam Blank Caster, Reheating Furnace and a Heavy Section Mill. These facilities will enable efficient production and processing of steel, aligning with modern manufacturing standards.

According to the government order, the allotted land must be utilised within three years for the intended purpose. Any delay or deviation from the approved conditions could lead to cancellation of the allotment. This condition aims to ensure timely execution and prevent land underutilisation.

The project is also expected to improve the industrial ecosystem in Kadapa district, attracting ancillary industries and boosting logistics and infrastructure development in the region. With increasing demand for steel driven by infrastructure, construction and manufacturing sectors, such investments are crucial for meeting future requirements.

Andhra Pradesh has been actively promoting industrial investments through policy support and infrastructure development. The JSW Steel project reflects the state’s commitment to positioning itself as a key manufacturing and industrial hub in India.
