Chennai based deep tech startup Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions has entered into a strategic partnership with CEPT University Ahmedabad to strengthen India’s emerging 3D printed construction ecosystem. The collaboration aims to create a national platform that brings together academic research, design innovation, and practical construction applications using advanced additive manufacturing technologies.
As part of the partnership, CEPT University will establish an advanced additive manufacturing workshop on its campus in the coming months. This facility will serve as a central hub for teaching studios, applied research, and prototype development focused on solving real world construction challenges. Tvasta will support the initiative by providing a robotic arm capable of printing complex concrete forms, enabling hands on experimentation and full scale prototyping.
The collaboration will focus on developing printed facades, building components, and integrated structural systems where walls, slabs, and roofs can be printed as a single unit. Researchers from both institutions will explore how 3D printed concrete structures can respond better to climate conditions, heat, and airflow, aligning with India’s growing focus on energy efficient and sustainable construction practices.
CEPT University leaders said the initiative will allow students and faculty to rethink how buildings are designed and constructed in India. By combining design thinking with material driven innovation, the partnership is expected to equip future architects and engineers with practical exposure to next generation construction technologies.
Tvasta’s team highlighted that the collaboration will also include studio courses in Design for Additive Manufacturing, where projects will be designed and physically built using the company’s 3D concrete printers. Joint research is also planned in areas such as structural performance, off site printed components, and construction in difficult terrains where conventional methods are often inefficient or impractical.
Founded in 2016 by IIT Madras alumni, Tvasta has developed Made in India 3D printing platforms that leverage automation and robotics to deliver faster, more economical, and sustainable construction solutions. With this partnership, both Tvasta and CEPT University are positioning themselves at the forefront of India’s construction technology transformation.
