Bengaluru is set for a significant infrastructure upgrade as Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced an allocation of Rs 1,100 crore exclusively for road development works in the city. The announcement was made through a post on social media platform X, where he assured that the state government is committed to ensuring pothole-free and smoother roads across the Karnataka capital.

According to Shivakumar, the ambitious allocation will be distributed across constituencies to benefit every part of the city. Fourteen assembly constituencies have been earmarked to receive Rs 50 crore each, while the remaining constituencies will be provided Rs 25 crore each. The funds will be utilized for repairing damaged roads as well as constructing new ones, a move aimed at addressing Bengaluru’s long-standing road infrastructure concerns.

In his X post, Shivakumar emphasized that this initiative is part of the government’s larger commitment to strengthen urban infrastructure and improve the quality of life for residents. “Bengaluru is set for a major push in road development with Rs 1,100 crore allocated for repair and construction. We are committed to ensuring every constituency benefits from these funds and to building smooth, pothole-free roads across the city,” he stated.

Bengaluru has often faced criticism for its deteriorating road conditions, especially during the monsoon season when potholes become a major safety hazard for motorists. The latest announcement comes as a reassurance for citizens who have repeatedly demanded sustainable solutions to the city’s road problems. By earmarking substantial funds, the government aims not only to repair existing damages but also to construct durable new roads that can withstand heavy traffic and weather conditions.

The Deputy Chief Minister’s declaration reflects the government’s intent to prioritize civic infrastructure in Bengaluru, a city that serves as India’s IT hub and contributes significantly to the state’s economy. With this Rs 1,100 crore push, authorities hope to make visible improvements in connectivity, ease of travel, and overall urban mobility in the coming months.
