The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited tenders for a large road infrastructure project in the Andhra Pradesh state, calling for the construction of the 108.134-km stretch of Badvel to Nellore. The construction will transform this stretch into an improved four-lane corridor to enhance regional connectivity and improve economic activities.

It starts from the village of Gopapuram near Badvel on NH-67 to Guruvindapudi village near Nellore on NH-16. The project will be held as a public-private partnership under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (Toll) model or DBFOT model where the private development is responsible for executing both works and toll collection.

The estimated cost of the project reaches ₹2,841.38 crores and it allows for construction to take place from the date of appointment within 24 months. The project, once finished, will help reduce heavy traffic congestion between the interior regions of Andhra Pradesh and the major national highways, thus promoting logistics and passenger transit.

Under full construction standards, the highway now boasts four lanes complete with engine service roads, bridges, underpasses, culverts, and safety mechanisms. The detailed design is from 630.960 km to 739.094 km.

NHAI has fixed August 13, 2025, for submitting the bids. The pre-bid meeting and clarifications will likely be held soon to clarify issues raised by prospective bidders.

This is an ambitious effort of NHAI to enhance road infrastructure for connecting regional corridors with national logistics networks in southern India.
