Western Carriers India Ltd (WCIL), a multi-modal logistics company, won a huge contract worth ₹558 crore from Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) to move the products of stainless steel across India for three consecutive years.
The contract pertains to the transport of slabs, coils, and sheet plates in DSO containers to a variety of destinations across India. It is a major win in the highly competitive sector of logistics and is already establishing WCIL as a key player in managing large-scale industrial freight.
Rajendra Sethia, Chairman and Managing Director of Western Carriers, said, “This is a prestigious mandate reinforcing our capabilities in handling mission-critical logistics operations across India. We remain committed to efficient and high-quality service delivery supporting India’s industrial ecosystem.”
Founded in 2011, Western Carrier International is a 4PL, asset-light logistics company that focuses majorly on rail-based multimodal transport. It offers an end-to-end supply chain solution across road, rail, water, and air with a long list of customizable value-added services.
Over the years, the company has cultivated a strong roster of clients and serves industry stalwarts like Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, Vedanta, BALCO, HUL, Tata Consumer Products, Coca-Cola India, Cipla, Wagh Bakri, DHL, Haldia Petrochemicals, MCPI, and Gujarat Heavy Chemicals, to name a few.
Contracts such as these bring greater focus to making an efficient supply chain infrastructure and are emerging as one of the key enablers for India’s manufacturing and industrial growth.
At the end of the day, shares in Western Carriers (India) Ltd ended slightly higher on Wednesday, regaining 0.25 or 0.23% to reach ₹110.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
With WCIL gaining this Jindal Stainless mandate, it will enhance its top line and thereby commit to driving strategic ambitions of operational scale and excellence in logistics across India.
