UltraTech Cement Raises Domestic Capacity to 204.7 MTPA After 4.6 MTPA Expansion

UltraTech Cement has commissioned an additional 4.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of cement capacity, taking its domestic grey cement manufacturing capacity to 204.7 MTPA. The latest expansion includes a new integrated plant in Andhra Pradesh and capacity additions through debottlenecking at existing facilities.

The company has commissioned a 3.6 MTPA greenfield integrated cement plant at Petnikota in Andhra Pradesh. The remaining 1.0 MTPA capacity has been added through debottlenecking at three existing facilities located in Visakhapatnam, Patratu and Nathdwara.

With the latest commissioning, UltraTech’s consolidated global cement capacity has reached 210.1 MTPA, including 5.4 MTPA of capacity from its overseas operations in the UAE, Bahrain and Sri Lanka.

The expansion comes as cement manufacturers continue to add capacity to meet demand from infrastructure development, housing and construction activity across India. For UltraTech, the new capacity also increases production availability across several important regional markets.

The Petnikota facility is expected to strengthen UltraTech’s presence in southern India, while the capacity additions at existing plants support supply across southern, eastern and northern markets. The company’s distributed manufacturing network is also intended to help improve logistics efficiency by placing production closer to demand centres.

UltraTech had reported domestic grey cement capacity of 200.1 MTPA in April 2026. The latest 4.6 MTPA addition represents an increase of about 2.3% from that level.

The company is targeting further capacity additions as it works towards its Financial Year 2026–27 capacity objective of 212.7 MTPA. Its longer-term expansion plans include reaching 242.5 MTPA by the end of Financial Year 2027–28.

The latest commissioning also follows UltraTech’s recent expansion into adjacent building-material categories. In September, the company announced its entry into the wires and cables segment under the Ultravolt brand, with commercial production beginning at its Bharuch facility in Gujarat.

For the cement business, however, capacity expansion remains a key part of UltraTech’s strategy as construction and infrastructure demand continue to drive the industry. The commissioning of the Petnikota plant, together with debottlenecking at existing locations, adds capacity without relying entirely on new greenfield projects.

With domestic grey cement capacity now at 204.7 MTPA, the latest expansion marks another step in UltraTech’s ongoing effort to increase production capacity and strengthen its supply network across India.
