Two highway projects amounting to ₹2,499.98 crore in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh are shaping up as they seek to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion to spur economic activity in the region. Vadarevu-Piduguralla Road Expansion

One of the major projects is upgrading an 85 km stretch of NH-167A from two lanes to four lanes between Vadarevu and Piduguralla at ₹1,064.24 crore. This connects important highways like the Addanki-Narketpalli Road (Nekarikallu), NH-216 (Chirala), and NH-16 (Chilakaluripet).

Divided into two segments—Vadarevu to Chilakaluripet and Chilakaluripet to Nekarikallu—the project also includes an 18-km new road from Vadarevu to Eepuripalem. Bypass roads in Parchur, Timmarajupalem, and Chilakaluripet will enhance accessibility and ease traffic. These upgrades are expected to boost marine exports from Chirala, encourage beach tourism, and improve connectivity to remote coastal areas.

Kondamodu-Perecherla Highway Development
The second significant upgrade involves a 49.91-km stretch of NH-167AG between Kondamodu and Perecherla. This ₹1,032.52 crore project will expand the road into four lanes, connecting key areas like Rajupalem, Reddigudem, Sattenapalli, and Medikonduru. Additionally, the project integrates with the Amaravati outer ring road, easing traffic on the Guntur-Hyderabad corridor and strengthening interstate connectivity.

Dachepalli-Macherla Highway Upgrade
Another initiative involves upgrading the 37-km Dachepalli-Macherla state highway to NH-167AD at a cost of ₹403.22 crore. This will improve transport for industries like cement and boost tourism at Nagarjuna Sagar and Anupu.

Land acquisition for the projects is quite satisfactory. There are 277.79 hectares acquired in Palnadu and 103 hectares in Bapatla districts, with 22.3 hectares as government land.

These projects manifest the commitment of the government to furthering the development of infrastructures, developing the economy, and improving the quality of living of the inhabitants of the region. Better connectivity through roads would reduce congestion, promote safety, and provide a proper base for sustainable development in the region.
