Gravita India has announced plans to establish a new copper recycling facility in Gujarat as part of its expansion strategy in the non-ferrous metals segment. The company will invest around ₹160 crore in setting up the project at Mandvi in Gujarat, reinforcing its focus on sustainable manufacturing and circular economy initiatives.

According to the company, the upcoming facility will have an installed capacity of 29,400 tonnes per annum and is expected to commence commercial operations within the next 12 months. The investment will be funded entirely through internal accruals.

The company stated that Mandvi was selected due to its strong infrastructure connectivity and logistics advantages, which are expected to support efficient raw material sourcing and finished product movement. Gravita India plans to deploy advanced recycling technologies at the plant to ensure higher metal recovery rates while maintaining strict environmental standards.

The new project is aimed at addressing the growing domestic and international demand for recycled copper. Industry experts believe the demand for recycled metals is witnessing strong growth due to increasing focus on sustainability, resource efficiency, and environmentally responsible industrial practices.

With this expansion, Gravita India is also looking to strengthen its position in the global recycling market while diversifying its overall product portfolio. The company expects the facility to improve margins, support revenue growth, and provide better vertical integration across its metals business.

The development comes at a time when the recycling industry is gaining significant traction globally amid rising raw material costs and increasing emphasis on sustainable resource utilisation. Copper recycling, in particular, plays a crucial role in reducing mining dependency and lowering carbon emissions associated with metal production.

Gravita India said the project aligns with its long-term vision of creating value through environmentally responsible operations while contributing to the growth of India’s recycling ecosystem.
