Asset Homes has introduced advanced Diaphragm Wall (D-Wall) technology at its premium residential project, Asset Vismayam, in Sasthamangalam, Thiruvananthapuram, marking a significant milestone for Kerala’s real estate and construction sector. The company is among the first builders in the state to deploy this globally proven construction methodology for a project located in a densely populated urban area.

The adoption of D-Wall technology addresses one of the biggest challenges in modern urban construction – safely executing deep basement excavations without affecting neighbouring buildings and surrounding infrastructure. As cities continue to grow vertically, advanced engineering solutions such as diaphragm walls are becoming increasingly important for ensuring structural safety and long-term project stability.

According to Asset Homes Founder and Managing Director Sunil Kumar V, the D-Wall system serves a dual purpose by acting as both a temporary earth-retaining structure during excavation and a permanent reinforced retaining wall after construction. Since the wall is completed before excavation begins, the technology eliminates the need for separate temporary shoring systems, reducing construction risks and improving project efficiency.

At the Asset Vismayam project, a continuous reinforced concrete wall has been constructed in sequential sections, with each segment measuring approximately five metres in length and 60 centimetres in thickness. During trench excavation, a specialised slurry solution is used to stabilise the surrounding soil, preventing collapse and protecting nearby structures throughout the construction process.

The technology also offers significant advantages during Kerala’s monsoon season. By creating a rigid protective barrier around the excavation zone, the D-Wall system improves worker safety, enhances construction precision and strengthens the overall foundation of the building.

Industry experts believe the adoption of diaphragm wall technology represents an important step forward for Kerala’s construction industry, particularly as demand grows for projects featuring multi-level basement parking and underground infrastructure in urban centres.

With increasing urbanisation and limited land availability, developers are expected to adopt advanced construction technologies that improve safety, reduce execution risks and enhance project quality. Asset Homes’ decision to introduce D-Wall technology at Asset Vismayam demonstrates the industry’s growing focus on engineering excellence, sustainable urban development and international construction standards.
