Action Construction Equipment (ACE) and Japan’s KATO Works Co., Ltd. have entered into a strategic partnership by incorporating a 50:50 joint venture, ACE KATO Pvt. Ltd., to manufacture high-capacity cranes in India. The collaboration marks a significant milestone for India’s construction equipment manufacturing sector, with a planned investment of approximately ₹200 crore in an advanced production facility in Haryana.

The new venture will manufacture Truck Cranes, Crawler Cranes and Rough Terrain Cranes designed for infrastructure, transportation, mining, ports, metro rail, energy and industrial applications. The products will cater to both domestic demand and international markets, strengthening India’s position as a global manufacturing hub for heavy lifting equipment.

Spread across an 11-acre site in Haryana, the manufacturing facility will house modern production systems, technology integration and product development infrastructure. The partners also plan to make phased investments to expand manufacturing capacity and introduce additional crane models in the coming years.

Under the partnership, KATO Works will contribute its globally recognised expertise in crane engineering, product design and advanced lifting technologies. ACE will leverage its manufacturing capabilities, localisation expertise, supplier ecosystem and nationwide sales and service network to produce world-class equipment efficiently in India.

The joint venture also aims to increase the localisation of components over time, helping reduce production costs, improve supply chain resilience and shorten delivery timelines. This strategy aligns with India’s broader manufacturing ambitions while enhancing the competitiveness of domestically produced construction equipment.

Sorab Agarwal, Executive Director of ACE, said the partnership represents an important milestone in the company’s growth journey and reflects its commitment to strengthening India’s construction equipment manufacturing ecosystem. He added that combining Japanese technology with Indian manufacturing capabilities would create a future-ready crane manufacturing platform capable of serving evolving customer requirements.

Tomoyasu Kato, Director of KATO Works, said the collaboration establishes another strategic manufacturing base within the company’s global production network while enabling delivery of advanced crane solutions for customers in India and overseas.

With rising investments in infrastructure, industrial development, ports, metro rail and mining projects, the ACE-KATO joint venture is expected to support India’s growing demand for high-capacity lifting equipment while expanding the country’s presence in global construction equipment exports.
