Kobelco Construction Equipment India (KCEI) has expanded its excavator portfolio with the introduction of three models designed for construction and infrastructure projects in India. The new SK210, SK215LC and SK230XDLC excavators fall within the 19.1 to 24 tonne category and are manufactured at the company’s facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
The launch strengthens Kobelco’s offering in a market where contractors are increasingly focused on equipment productivity, fuel efficiency and the cost of operating machinery over its working life.
Three models target construction and infrastructure demand
The SK210, SK215LC and SK230XDLC are powered by a 150-horsepower Cummins F4.5 common-rail direct injection (CRDI) engine. According to the company, the machines combine digging performance with features intended to help operators manage fuel consumption and maintenance requirements across demanding project conditions.
The equipment includes enhanced digging forces, GEOSCAN remote tracking, standard air-conditioning, LED work lights and a power boost function. Extended hydraulic oil and filter maintenance intervals are also intended to reduce servicing frequency and improve machine availability.
For contractors working on road construction, building projects and other infrastructure developments, equipment downtime and maintenance costs can affect project schedules. Features that support reliable operation and easier fleet monitoring can therefore influence purchasing decisions alongside the initial price of a machine.
Sri City facility supports domestic and export markets
KCEI manufactures its excavators at its Sri City facility in Andhra Pradesh. The plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 3,500 units and has produced more than 20,000 machines for customers in India and overseas. The company exports its equipment to more than 16 countries.
Established in India in 2006, KCEI has developed its manufacturing and engineering operations alongside its sales and service network. The company has more than 30 dealerships across India, providing equipment sales and after-sales support.
The local manufacturing base forms part of Kobelco’s approach of combining Japanese engineering with production tailored to Indian market requirements. For customers, the availability of dealer support and maintenance services remains an important consideration when selecting construction equipment.
India remains a key market for Kobelco
KCEI Managing Director Jun Hayama said India remained an important market in the company’s Asian growth plans. He linked the introduction of the three models to the company’s continued focus on the country’s infrastructure sector as it marks two decades of operations in India.
KCEI Director Moses Eddy said the company’s approach extends beyond equipment sales and servicing, with an emphasis on helping customers improve excavation economics through technology and localisation.
The three new models add further options for Indian contractors seeking excavators in the 19.1 to 24 tonne segment. Their adoption will depend on project requirements, operating costs, machine performance and the availability of ongoing service support.
