Tata Steel India reported a strong rise in crude steel production during the Second Quarter of Financial Year 2026–27, with output increasing 10% year-on-year to 6.21 million tons. Production was also 8% higher than the previous quarter, supported mainly by improved performance at the company’s Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar facilities.
The provisional operational update highlights continued strength in Tata Steel’s domestic business despite seasonal monsoon conditions. India deliveries stood at 5.97 million tons during the quarter, registering a 15% sequential increase and a 7% year-on-year rise. The stronger delivery performance was supported by a richer product mix and steady demand across key market segments.

On a half-year basis, Tata Steel India’s crude steel production increased 10% year-on-year to 11.97 million tons. Deliveries during the First Half of Financial Year 2026–27 rose 8% to 11.14 million tons.
Several domestic business segments recorded notable volume growth during the quarter. Tata Steel’s Automotive & Special Products vertical achieved its best-ever second-quarter volume of around 1.1 million tons, up 9% sequentially and 19% year-on-year. The improvement was supported by the ramp-up of the Continuous Annealing and Galvanising lines at Kalinganagar and the Combi mill at Jamshedpur.
The Branded Products & Retail vertical also reported its best-ever quarterly volume at around 2.2 million tons. Tata Tiscon recorded its highest quarterly volume, while Tata Kosh volumes increased 25% sequentially.
The Construction & Solutions vertical recorded around 0.6 million tons, with ready-to-use solutions growing 32% year-on-year. Engineering and Packaging volumes stood at approximately 0.4 million tons, rising 12% sequentially, helped by stronger sales to the Oil & Gas segment.
Tata Steel’s downstream businesses, including cold rolled products, galvanised products, tubes, tinplate, wires and colours, continued to grow. The Colors business recorded its best-ever quarterly volume, increasing 34% sequentially.
Meanwhile, Tata Steel’s Netherlands operations produced around 1.52 million tons of liquid steel, while deliveries stood at 1.30 million tons. In Thailand, saleable steel production was 0.32 million tons and deliveries were 0.31 million tons.
The latest numbers underline the continued importance of Tata Steel’s Indian operations to its overall volume performance, with domestic production and deliveries showing resilient growth during the quarter.
