Volvo Construction Equipment India has commercially launched the EC650, a 65 tonne class excavator, at Bauma CONEXPO India 2026, expanding its equipment portfolio for demanding mining and mass excavation applications.
Powered by the Volvo D13E engine, the EC650 delivers 435 hp and has been designed with a focus on durability and fuel efficiency. Its undercarriage, boom and arm, and hydraulic systems are engineered to handle demanding operating conditions associated with large scale excavation and mining.
The launch comes as the mining equipment buying season begins, with Volvo making the EC650 available for immediate deliveries to mining customers. The excavator will also be offered through Volvo Construction Equipment’s Equipment as a Service model, giving customers an alternative way to access the company’s machinery.
Volvo CE is also positioning its support around the entire equipment lifecycle rather than focusing only on the machine. Customers will have access to connected services, productivity solutions, repair and maintenance agreements, and application-led offerings aimed at supporting equipment performance during operations.

At Bauma CONEXPO India 2026, Volvo CE is showcasing a broad range of construction and mining equipment. Its construction and industrial zone features the 20 tonne excavator range, including the EC210, EC215 and EC220. These machines are designed for applications such as road construction, urban construction, quarrying and river-bed mining.
The company’s wider portfolio at the event includes the EC300 excavator, SD110, DD90 and L120 Electric Wheel Loader. In the mining zone, the EC480, EC650 and L150 are receiving particular attention, with Volvo highlighting an application-led approach to equipment solutions.
Dimitrov Krishnan, Managing Director of Volvo Construction Equipment India, said the EC650 represents more than an addition to the company’s mining portfolio, describing it as a machine designed to support mining operators across their shifts.
The launch also reflects Volvo CE’s longer-term focus on India. The company had earlier announced investment in its Bengaluru Technology Centre, which is expected to support research and development, localisation and product innovation for both the Indian and global markets.
