Raghu Vamsi Aerospace to Invest Over ₹600 Crore in Telangana Superalloy Manufacturing Facility

Raghu Vamsi Aerospace Group has announced plans to establish a large integrated superalloy manufacturing facility in Telangana with an investment of more than ₹600 crore. The Hyderabad-based company unveiled the project during the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, one of the world’s leading events for the aerospace and defence industry.

Spread across 50 acres, the proposed facility will be among the few integrated manufacturing plants in India capable of producing high-quality nickel-based superalloys. The company said the plant will combine advanced manufacturing processes, including vacuum melting, forging, heat treatment, vacuum casting and powder metallurgy, allowing multiple stages of production to be carried out at a single location.

The facility has been designed with an annual production capacity of approximately 5,000 tonnes. It will manufacture a range of specialised products such as round bars, wires, forgings, castings and tungsten carbide powders that are widely used across aerospace, defence and other high-performance engineering sectors. Commercial production is expected to commence in January 2028.

The project will be led by SK Jha, former Chairman and Managing Director of Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), who brings decades of experience in the special metals sector. His appointment is expected to support the development of advanced manufacturing capabilities and accelerate the execution of the project.

Nickel-based superalloys play a critical role in the production of aircraft engines, spacecraft systems, defence platforms, industrial gas turbines, nuclear power equipment, medical implants and emerging hydrogen technologies. At present, India continues to depend significantly on imports to meet domestic demand for these specialised materials.

Industry experts believe that increasing domestic manufacturing capacity for advanced alloys is essential to strengthening India’s aerospace supply chain and supporting the country’s long-term self-reliance goals. Once operational, the Telangana facility is expected to reduce import dependence, create skilled employment opportunities and enhance the availability of strategically important materials for both domestic manufacturers and global customers.
