Steel Exchange India has received a significant boost to its infrastructure business after securing vendor approval from the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) for the supply of Simhadri TMT bars in Amaravati’s construction projects.
The approval allows the company’s primary-source TMT bars to be used in ongoing as well as future projects being developed across the Amaravati Capital Region. The development is expected to improve the company’s visibility among major infrastructure contractors and increase its participation in one of India’s largest urban development programmes.
According to the approval granted on June 12, 2026, APCRDA has authorised the use of Simhadri TMT bars in multiple grades, including Fe550, Fe500D, Fe550D and Fe550D CRS (Corrosion Resistant Steel). These grades are widely used in large-scale infrastructure, commercial and residential developments due to their strength, durability and resistance to corrosion.
The approval follows an application submitted by Steel Exchange India earlier this month. APCRDA’s communication confirms that the company’s integrated manufacturing process, spanning from iron ore to finished TMT bars, has been recognised for use in capital city projects.
The significance of the approval extends beyond product supply. Amaravati continues to witness renewed momentum in infrastructure development, with several government buildings, roads, utilities and urban infrastructure projects progressing under various phases. Vendor approval from APCRDA enables Steel Exchange India to participate in these opportunities and supply materials to projects being executed by leading construction companies.
Industry observers note that approvals from government agencies often play a crucial role in strengthening the credibility of steel manufacturers, particularly in public infrastructure projects where quality standards and compliance requirements are stringent.
The APCRDA approval letter has also been shared with major construction and infrastructure firms involved in Amaravati’s development, including NCC Ltd, Larsen & Toubro, MEIL and Shapoorji Pallonji. This is expected to improve the company’s access to future procurement opportunities linked to the capital city’s expansion.
With infrastructure spending gaining pace in Andhra Pradesh, the approval places Steel Exchange India in a stronger position to support upcoming construction activity while expanding the market presence of its Simhadri TMT brand.
