Telangana CM Asks Centre to Speed Up RRR, Amaravati Expressway Approvals

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called on Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Monday, seeking immediate clearances for some of the most strategic infrastructure projects on the State’s plate, such as the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR) and the Hyderabad-Amaravati Expressway.

The CM sought immediate Cabinet and financial approvals for the northern segment of the RRR, which is in the tender stage. He asserted that there was an urgent need for concurrent development of the northern and southern halves in the direction of growth balance in the region.

Reddy further asked the Centre to expedite the clearances for the Hyderabad-Amaravati Greenfield Expressway of 277 km connecting Telangana’s capital with Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh’s new capital. The six-lane road will cut travel time, boost interstate commerce, and open new economic corridors.

“Sanctions final, land transfer, and DPR completion are awaited. The expressway will be a game-changer for both the states,” an official from the Chief Minister’s Office said.

Another urgent demand was that a raised corridor be constructed over the Mannanur-Srisailam stretch of NH-765. The road, a key connectivity route to the temple town of Srisailam, is perennially jammed during festival seasons. The CM stressed hassle-free travel on the congested stretch.

To further improve the connectivity of Hyderabad, Reddy proposed new radial roads linking the existing Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the future RRR. Particular corridors being looked at are Hyderabad-Dindi-Mannanur, Hyderabad-Mancherial, and a critical one from the ORR to Manneguda.

The Centre has already given in-principle sanction for the Amaravati Expressway, but state authorities indicate that momentum needs to gain pace. “These projects will bring investments, create jobs, and give a big push to Telangana’s development,” the CM added.

As the development of infrastructure takes priority in the state, the Telangana leadership is moving fast to fit into national priorities and get fast implementation of essential road projects.
