The Telangana government will undertake the construction of flyovers with steel piers and girders around Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park (KBR) National Park for the smooth flow of traffic and time-saving construction. This comes under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Investment (H-CITI) program that strives toward providing better urban mobility.

The budget went from ₹826 crore to about ₹1,090 crore with some additional expenses due to the introduction of steel as a prime construction material. Now, according to sources, this will mean fast-tracking construction with significantly reduced disruption to traffic flow during construction.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the implementing agency, revealed that the eight flyovers surrounding KBR Park will utilize steel piers and girders, with the road portions being cast in concrete. Officials indicated that by using steel, construction time could be reduced by at least six months.

The total project duration for the construction of the flyovers and the six underpasses has been set at 18 months. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy firmly laid the foundation stone for the flyovers, asserting that it was cardinal that the authorities fast-tracked the completion of the project to ease congestion in the Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills areas.

This development is expected to contribute to signal-free traffic flow towards the Outer Ring Road, benefiting commuters in these densely populated regions.

Previously, the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) included the construction of two steel bridges. The first bridge, connecting VST to Indira Park, is already operational, while the second, between Nalgonda Crossroads and Owaisi Junction, is still under construction.

The use of pre-fabricated steel components for the flyovers is expected to speed up on-site installation, reducing construction disruptions and facilitating smoother traffic movement in the bustling neighborhoods around KBR Park.
