Zydex Paints Partners with Germany’s KEIMFARBEN to Introduce 20-Year Silicate Mineral Paint Technology in India

India’s decorative paints market is set to witness the arrival of a new category of premium building coatings as Zydex Paints has partnered with Germany-based KEIMFARBEN GmbH to introduce silicate mineral paint technology in the country. The collaboration is expected to bring long-lasting façade protection with a minimum 20-year warranty against colour fading and film failure, offering an alternative to conventional exterior paints.

The partnership reflects a growing shift within the construction materials industry, where developers, architects and building owners are increasingly prioritising durability and lifecycle costs over frequent repainting. While India’s decorative paint sector has traditionally competed on pricing, colour options and brand recognition, the latest collaboration aims to position long-term performance as a key differentiator.

Unlike conventional acrylic coatings that form a film on the surface, silicate mineral paints chemically bond with compatible mineral substrates. This breathable technology allows trapped moisture to escape while reducing the risk of peeling, blistering and dampness. The use of UV-stable mineral pigments also helps maintain colour stability for extended periods, particularly in regions exposed to harsh sunlight, heavy rainfall, humidity and saline coastal conditions.

According to the companies, the technology will initially target premium residential developments, commercial buildings, hospitals, universities and high-rise projects where lower maintenance costs and longer service life are increasingly becoming important considerations.

Zydex also plans to strengthen its engagement with architects, consultants, developers and trained applicators through a specification-led approach. While the premium KEIM product portfolio will focus on large institutional and commercial developments, Zydex’s organosilicate range will continue serving individual homeowners and smaller residential projects through its existing dealer network.

Industry experts believe advanced coating technologies could create a significant opportunity in India’s building materials sector as infrastructure investments and premium real estate development continue to grow. The collaboration between Zydex and KEIMFARBEN also highlights the increasing adoption of global construction technologies in India while supporting the industry’s focus on sustainability, durability and reduced lifecycle maintenance costs.
