India Cements Ltd., now operating as a subsidiary of UltraTech Cement Ltd., has reported a return to profitability in the first quarter of the financial year 2026–27 (Q1 FY27), marking a significant turnaround from the losses it recorded during the same period last year.

The company posted a consolidated net profit of ₹26.9 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with a net loss of ₹131.4 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. While revenue remained largely stable, stronger operational performance helped improve overall profitability.

Revenue from operations stood at ₹1,019.4 crore during the quarter, marginally lower than ₹1,024.7 crore reported a year earlier. However, the company’s earnings were supported by a sharp increase in operating margins. EBITDA rose 87.2% year on year to ₹155.7 crore from ₹83.2 crore, while the EBITDA margin expanded to 15.3% from 8.1%, reflecting improved cost management and operational efficiency.

The latest quarterly performance comes as India Cements continues its integration with UltraTech Cement, India’s largest cement manufacturer. UltraTech completed its phased acquisition of the company during 2024 and early 2025, eventually increasing its ownership to 81.49% following an open offer to public shareholders.

Industry observers believe the operational improvements indicate the early benefits of the integration process. Better production planning, procurement efficiencies and stronger business synergies are expected to support the company’s performance in the coming quarters.

Although revenue growth remained modest, the sharp improvement in profitability highlights the company’s focus on improving margins rather than relying solely on higher sales volumes. The turnaround also reflects improving demand conditions in the cement sector alongside disciplined operational execution.

With infrastructure development and housing activity continuing across several regions, the outlook for the cement industry remains positive. As India Cements strengthens its position within the UltraTech network, market participants will closely watch how the integration contributes to future growth, capacity utilisation and profitability.

The latest results indicate that the company has taken an important step towards restoring financial stability, positioning itself for sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive cement market.
