Welspun Corp has secured a ₹17,200 crore order for pipes in the US, marking the company’s largest-ever single contract and significantly strengthening its position in the North American energy infrastructure market.

The order, which will be executed during FY28 and FY29, is linked to a project aimed at transporting natural gas from the Permian Basin to the US Gulf Coast. The development comes amid sustained demand for large-diameter pipes as the US continues to expand its natural gas pipeline network and LNG infrastructure.

Following the latest win, Welspun Corp’s global order book has reached a record $4.4 billion, equivalent to around ₹42,100 crore. The company disclosed the order in a regulatory filing, highlighting the scale of its growing presence in the US energy infrastructure sector.

The contract includes LSAW and spiral pipes. Welspun Corp expects its US manufacturing operations to play a key role in fulfilling the order over the next two financial years.

The company has been expanding its manufacturing capabilities in the US to support rising demand. Its existing US production capacity is around 3.5 million tonnes, which is targeted to increase to nearly 7 million tonnes over the next two years through capacity augmentation and debottlenecking.

A new US manufacturing facility is also expected to become operational from December 2026. The company believes its existing and expanded capacity will provide sufficient room to execute the latest order while pursuing additional opportunities in the region.

The latest contract has sharply increased Welspun Corp’s order book from around ₹25,300 crore at the end of the first quarter of FY27. Around 60–65% of the current order book is estimated to come from the US, providing execution visibility over the next three to three-and-a-half years.

The Permian Basin connection is particularly significant. It is one of the major oil and gas producing regions in the US, while pipeline infrastructure linking production areas with the Gulf Coast remains critical to the country’s energy network.

Welspun Corp said North America remains a strategically important market and that it has continued investing in manufacturing and technology capabilities to participate in large-scale energy infrastructure projects.

The company’s latest order comes as US spending on energy infrastructure remains strong, alongside rising demand linked to LNG projects and data-centre development. For Welspun Corp, the sizeable order book provides a stronger revenue pipeline while reinforcing its global manufacturing strategy.
