Vedanta Group has invited experienced aluminium manufacturers and fabricators to participate in one of India’s largest industrial procurement programmes, seeking partners for the supply and fabrication of 200,000 metric tonnes of aluminium busbars for its upcoming integrated aluminium project in Odisha.
The procurement is part of Vedanta’s USD 14 billion integrated aluminium project, a cornerstone of the company’s broader USD 20 billion capital investment programme planned over the next three years. The investment spans aluminium, zinc, iron and steel, oil and gas, and power, reflecting Vedanta’s strategy to significantly expand its manufacturing footprint across India.
The company is looking for organisations with a proven track record in large-scale aluminium busbar manufacturing, fabrication and project execution. Prospective partners are expected to demonstrate strong engineering capabilities, advanced manufacturing technologies, rapid mobilisation and the ability to deliver large volumes within a 24-month execution period.
The Odisha project is expected to become one of the country’s largest integrated aluminium manufacturing facilities. Aluminium busbars play a vital role in power distribution systems within smelters and heavy industrial plants, making them an essential component for efficient and reliable operations.
Industry experts believe the supplier outreach signals Vedanta’s intent to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities while creating opportunities for specialised engineering companies and fabrication firms. The initiative is also expected to encourage technology-led manufacturing practices as the company has indicated a preference for partners adopting advanced digital and artificial intelligence-driven processes.
Interested companies have been invited to submit their credentials before July 28, 2026. The opportunity is expected to attract participation from leading Indian and international manufacturers capable of supporting one of the country’s most significant industrial expansion projects.
As India continues to increase investments in metals, infrastructure and advanced manufacturing, Vedanta’s expansion programme is expected to generate substantial demand across the industrial supply chain while reinforcing the country’s position as a global manufacturing destination.
