Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated the much-awaited mini TIDEL park worth Rs 33 crore in Thoothukudi on Sunday; the area spans 63,000 square feet and nearly 4.16 acres, creating an environment conducive to transition and employment generation in southern Tamil Nadu.

Located in the center of Thoothukudi, the four-storey park will have amenable services such as a gym, an auditorium, and a continuous power supply, thus giving it an edge over tech companies and other businesses. The park is part of the state government’s larger vision to create an elaborate IT ecosystem in tier-2 cities, affording closer-to-home jobs to the graduates.

The inauguration was attended by a host of prominent persons, including ministers P Geetha Jeevan, Anitha Radhakrishnan, and Thoothukudi MP K Kanimozhi. During the ceremony, Stalin handed over work orders to two private IT companies, signaling the park’s immediate appeal to businesses.

Minister for Industries TRB Rajaa highlighted that this mini TIDEL park, like those in Villupuram, Thanjavur, and Salem, is designed to provide jobs to over 1,000 people in the southern districts. Remarkably, the park has already been fully occupied by tenants at the time of its inauguration.

Stalin emphasized the state’s commitment to creating more such opportunities with the development of additional TIDEL parks in cities like Vellore, Tiruppur, and Karaikudi. Supply will, in turn, increase demand in commercial real estate and urban settings.

TIDEL park will emerge and Thoothukudi will be poised to take its rightful place among the growing avenues of IT and industries in Tamil Nadu, creating new vistas for jobs as well as real estate investment.
