The Telangana government is preparing to launch one of India’s most ambitious urban development projects with the proposed Bharat Future City, a 30,000-acre integrated township planned on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The project is expected to play a central role in the state’s strategy to attract global investments, strengthen industrial growth and position Hyderabad as a leading destination for technology and innovation.
Speaking during an interaction with representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the government is actively working to bring Fortune 500 companies to the proposed development. He described Telangana as a stable, business-friendly investment destination with policies designed to support long-term industrial expansion.
The proposed Bharat Future City will be significantly larger than Gujarat’s GIFT City, which has been developed across nearly 700 acres. According to the Chief Minister, the larger scale of the project will allow the government to create a comprehensive ecosystem that integrates technology, manufacturing, commercial development and supporting urban infrastructure.
The state is also witnessing increasing interest from global technology companies. Amazon has proposed an investment of ₹1 lakh crore in data centre infrastructure in Hyderabad, while the Adani Group is developing a ₹30,000 crore data centre project in the city. These investments are expected to strengthen Hyderabad’s position as one of India’s fastest-growing digital infrastructure hubs amid rising demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence and enterprise data services.
The government is also looking to benefit from the global China Plus One manufacturing strategy, under which multinational companies are diversifying production and supply chains beyond China. Telangana aims to leverage this trend by providing world-class infrastructure, investor-friendly policies and a skilled workforce.
To support balanced regional growth, the government has outlined a three-tier development model. Service industries will continue to expand within Hyderabad’s Core Urban Region, manufacturing industries will be encouraged between the Outer Ring Road and the proposed Regional Ring Road, while areas beyond will continue to focus on agriculture and agri-based industries.
With Bharat Future City at the centre of its long-term development roadmap, Telangana is positioning itself to compete for high-value global investments while creating a future-ready ecosystem capable of supporting sustained economic growth across multiple sectors.
