RITES Ltd. and Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of logistics infrastructure across India, marking an important step towards strengthening the country’s multimodal transport ecosystem.

The partnership brings together the expertise of RITES in transport infrastructure consultancy, engineering and project management with CONCOR’s extensive experience in container logistics, rail freight operations and terminal management. The collaboration is expected to support the planning and execution of critical logistics projects that improve freight movement and enhance supply chain efficiency.

As part of the agreement, RITES will provide Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for infrastructure projects undertaken by CONCOR on a work-to-work basis. The consultancy will cover every stage of project development, including feasibility studies, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), engineering design, architectural planning, project supervision, construction management and quality assurance.

The collaboration will focus on developing a wide range of logistics assets such as multimodal logistics parks, inland container depots, rail-linked freight terminals, warehouses, railway infrastructure, roads, utility networks, administrative buildings and other supporting facilities. These projects are expected to improve cargo handling capacity, reduce logistics bottlenecks and facilitate seamless movement of goods across different modes of transportation.

India has been actively investing in logistics infrastructure under various government initiatives aimed at reducing logistics costs and improving the country’s global competitiveness. Integrated logistics parks and modern freight terminals are becoming increasingly important as manufacturing, e-commerce and exports continue to grow.

RITES, a Navratna public sector enterprise, has more than five decades of experience in transport infrastructure consultancy and has successfully executed projects in over 55 countries. CONCOR, also a Navratna enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, remains one of India’s leading multimodal logistics companies with an extensive network of rail-linked container terminals across the country.

Industry experts believe the collaboration will help accelerate the execution of future logistics projects while supporting the development of sustainable and efficient freight infrastructure. The partnership also aligns with the Government of India’s vision of creating an integrated multimodal logistics network capable of supporting long-term industrial growth, faster cargo movement and resilient supply chains.
