Karnataka’s administration is gearing up to set up a massive tourism hub at Manchanabele dam—throwing in a solid 145 crore bucks. This spot’s just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Bengaluru 40 km in the Ramanagara district, to be exact. They’ve got their eyes on transforming a cool 72.3 acres into a hot tourist destination filled with a bunch of attractions. They’re planning to team up with private companies for the whole deal using that PPP model and all.
The project is set to feature key elements like an eco-resort, a business hotel, a lookout area, and a statue of Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru. This venture will split into three distinct parts: one for arrivals another for eco-tourism, and one more for thrill-seekers. Each zone will offer its unique attractions and facilities. The welcome area covering 3 acres, will have a ticket office, a spot for toy trains, and well-designed parking for up to 100 cars.
The nature-friendly tourist spot spreading over 15.5 acres, will offer a 55-room hotel for business travelers small houses, a place for massages, a health center, pools to swim in, rooms for big gatherings, and places to eat. All these will give visitors amazing views of the water held by the dam.
The adventure zone spanning 15.3 acres, aims to excite daredevils with its ice rink, go-kart circuit, off-road biking paths equestrian field, and a cliff-scaling wall. Not this, but it’ll also boast a heritage hamlet featuring alfresco playhouses, grub stands, and a chopper landing site.
The “leisure zone,” occupying the biggest chunk at 60.4 acres, will shape up as the face of the new development that the public sees. This spot’s gonna have gardens, paths you can stroll on, a spot for kids to play, and chill spots like a garden full of roses and one inspired by Japan. There’ll be a spot way up high where you can look out over the whole reservoir, and you’ll also catch sight of the Kempegowda statue and where you can grab a bite.
Overnight houseboat stays boating, jetty rides, and hiking paths are extra draws. The project will unfold over 30 years with a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) plan handling its execution. This initiative will crank up tourist visits in Bengaluru and Ramanagara areas a whole lot.
