JSW Infrastructure Limited has officially entered a new phase of growth with the commencement of commercial operations at its Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal. Located in Arakkonam near Chennai Tamil Nadu this facility represents a significant leap forward for the regional logistics landscape. The operational launch follows formal approval from the Southern Railway Chennai Division which was granted on April 14 2026 at 945 a.m.
The journey to this milestone began in June 2024 when the company received the Letter of Acceptance for the construction and operation of this terminal. Built entirely on Railway land this project is a core part of the Indian government Gati Shakti initiative aimed at enhancing multimodal connectivity across the nation. By integrating with the Indian Railways network the Arakkonam terminal is perfectly positioned to handle diverse cargo needs and improve supply chain efficiency in South India.
Regulatory transparency remains a priority for JSW Infrastructure. This launch was disclosed in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements 2015. The company followed all necessary protocols including adherence to the SEBI Master Circular issued in early 2026. This commitment to compliance underscores the company reliability as a major player in the infrastructure sector.
The strategic value of the Arakkonam terminal cannot be overstated. It is the 26th operational terminal for the company and is expected to manage a cargo volume of approximately 1 million tonnes per annum. This expansion aligns with JSW Infrastructure aggressive growth strategy. The company has outlined a capital expenditure plan of 5000 crore rupees in the near term with a broader vision to invest 9000 crore rupees over the next five years.
By bridging the gap between industrial hubs and railway networks JSW Infrastructure is not just building terminals but is also strengthening the economic backbone of Tamil Nadu. This project showcases the power of seamless coordination between private enterprise and railway authorities to drive national progress. As the terminal ramps up its capacity it will serve as a vital link for industries requiring efficient bulk transport solutions.
