JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd, on the other hand, has got ₹45.6 crore tax demand from the Income Tax Authority for the AY 2022-23. The company announced a regulatory filing on Tuesday, saying it received the order of assessment on March 18, 2025.

As per the order, the company’s declared income was re-assessed by making certain additions as per the directions of the tax authorities, resulting in a total demand of ₹4,559.60 lakh. JK Lakshmi Cement, however, has strongly disputed the claim, terming it “fallacious and legally untenable”. The demand, however, will be overturned, according to the company, when legal proceedings unfold.

JK Lakshmi Cement, in response to this, has said it will approach the relevant government bodies to file an appeal. The company, however, has pledged to its stakeholders that it doesn’t expect to experience any material effect on its financial condition, business operations or business activities due to the tax demand.

The evolution of this will highlight how corporate tax filings remain very much in the spotlight, and reiterate the balance of companies needing to be compliant whilst retaining the right to take disputed claims through a legal process.
