KBR Park Flyovers to Consume 20,000 Tonnes of Steel Under H-CITI Project

Hyderabad’s major road infrastructure programme around KBR Park is moving into a construction-intensive phase, with seven proposed steel flyovers expected to consume around 20,000 metric tonnes of steel.

The flyovers are being developed as part of the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) project, which aims to ease congestion around the busy junctions surrounding KBR Park. Along with the seven flyovers, the project also includes two underpasses.

Construction activity has already begun at several locations, with excavation and foundation works underway. Traffic arrangements have also been modified around the park to facilitate construction while maintaining movement through the busy corridor.

Seven flyovers planned around KBR Park

The proposed structures cover multiple important junctions in and around Jubilee Hills and the KBR Park area. The projects include two flyovers at the Jubilee Hills Check Post Junction, a flyover at the KBR Park Entrance Junction, and structures connecting Road No. 45, Film Nagar, Indo-American Cancer Hospital Junction and Maharaja Agrasen Junction.

The planned flyovers range from 500 metres to 891 metres in length. The KBR Park Entrance Junction flyover is the longest at 891 metres, while the Road No. 45 Junction structure will extend for about 500 metres.

The scale of the steel requirement is particularly significant. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is working on plans for bulk procurement, with officials expected to engage steel manufacturers capable of supplying the large quantities required for the project.

Bulk steel procurement expected

Officials indicated that manufacturers may need advance orders given the volume involved. The estimated 20,000-tonne requirement highlights the material intensity of the H-CITI flyover programme and could make the project a notable steel-consuming infrastructure development in Hyderabad.

The works are being taken up alongside traffic management measures designed to minimise disruption. Authorities expect construction of the flyovers and underpasses to progress in phases, with the overall works targeted for completion within two years.

Once completed, the H-CITI components are expected to improve traffic movement across several high-density junctions surrounding KBR Park, while providing additional grade-separated connectivity through the Jubilee Hills and Film Nagar corridors.
