DHL Announces EUR 1 Billion Investment to Strengthen India’s Logistics and Digital Infrastructure

DHL Group has unveiled a major long-term commitment to India, announcing an investment of EUR 1 billion, approximately ₹10,329 crore, to significantly enhance its logistics, digital and sustainability capabilities across the country by 2030. The investment marks one of DHL’s largest expansions in India and reflects the company’s strong confidence in the growth potential of the Indian market.

As part of this multi-year investment programme, DHL will prioritise infrastructure development across several high-growth sectors including life sciences, healthcare, new energy, e-commerce and digitalization. One of the flagship projects is the establishment of the first DHL Health Logistics Hub for DHL Supply Chain India in Bhiwandi, designed to support India’s rapidly expanding pharmaceutical and medical supply chain.

Blue Dart, DHL’s express logistics division, will also benefit from major upgrades, including India’s largest low-emission integrated operating facility in Bijwasan and a new ground hub in Haryana. DHL Express India will introduce its first automatic sorting centre in Delhi, enabling faster parcel processing and improved delivery efficiency.

Digitalization is another core pillar of DHL’s India strategy. The company is setting up its fifth global IT services centre in Indore, which will serve as a major technology hub supporting automation, AI and advanced digital tools. This facility will also include a training academy to upskill DHL employees in next-generation technologies, strengthening India’s role as a global innovation centre for the company.

Sustainability remains central to DHL’s Strategy 2030. The company aims to reduce CO₂ emissions to 29 million metric tons by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. In India, this will be supported through fleet electrification, renewable fuel-based operations, low-emission buildings and the GoGreen Plus programme. New EV and battery logistics Centres of Excellence will be established in Chennai and Mumbai to support India’s fast-growing electric mobility ecosystem.

With the country’s trade footprint expanding and supply chains becoming more global, DHL’s EUR 1 billion investment positions India as a major node in its worldwide logistics network.
