Brigade Hotel Ventures Ltd. (BHVL) is strengthening its presence in Chennai with a planned investment of around ₹1,100 crore, underscoring the city’s growing importance in South India’s hospitality sector. The investment forms part of the company’s broader expansion strategy, under which it intends to invest nearly ₹3,600 crore across multiple markets over the next three to four years.

According to the company’s FY26 annual report, Chennai will witness the development of three new premium hotels, significantly expanding Brigade Hotel Ventures’ portfolio in the city. The projects are expected to cater to the rising demand from business travellers, leisure tourists, and the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) segment.

The expansion will begin with the launch of the Courtyard by Marriott Chennai World Trade Centre. This will be followed by two upscale hospitality projects, the JW Marriott Chennai OMR and the Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR. Both luxury hotels are scheduled for completion during the 2029–30 period and are expected to strengthen Chennai’s premium hospitality landscape.

Brigade Hotel Ventures already operates the 202-key Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway, giving the company an established presence in one of the city’s prominent business corridors. The upcoming developments are expected to complement this existing asset while enhancing accommodation options for domestic and international visitors.

Speaking to businessline, Vineet Verma, Director of Brigade Hotel Ventures, said Chennai would account for nearly one-third of the company’s planned hospitality investment, highlighting the city’s strategic importance in its long-term growth roadmap. He noted that Chennai continues to attract strong demand because of its expanding IT ecosystem, manufacturing base, healthcare sector and improving infrastructure.

Industry experts believe the fresh investment reflects increasing confidence in Chennai’s hospitality market, which has witnessed steady growth driven by business travel, tourism and large-scale corporate investments. With several infrastructure projects and commercial developments underway, the city continues to emerge as one of India’s preferred destinations for hotel operators looking to expand their footprint.

The planned projects are also expected to generate employment during construction and operations while supporting the local tourism ecosystem. As Chennai evolves into a stronger commercial and convention hub, Brigade Hotel Ventures latest investment is likely to play a significant role in meeting the city’s future hospitality demand.
