Andhra Pradesh has taken a significant step towards strengthening its renewable energy ecosystem with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laying the foundation stone for a ₹5,400 crore solar manufacturing facility by ReNew in Anakapalli district. The project, located at Rambilli, is expected to position the state as a key hub in India’s fast-growing clean energy landscape.

The upcoming facility will be developed as a six gigawatt solar ingot and wafer manufacturing unit. These components are critical in the solar value chain as they form the base for photovoltaic modules. By focusing on upstream manufacturing, the project is set to reduce India’s dependence on imports and support the country’s vision of building a self-reliant renewable energy sector.

This development comes under the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which aims to attract large-scale investments and accelerate the transition towards sustainable energy. With global demand for solar components rising, the state is positioning itself to capture a larger share of the manufacturing ecosystem.

The project is part of ReNew’s broader ₹82,000 crore investment commitment in Andhra Pradesh, underlining the company’s long-term confidence in the region. Once operational, the facility is expected to be commissioned within 24 months and generate over 2,100 employment opportunities, giving a strong boost to local industrial growth.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister highlighted that Anakapalli is emerging as a major investment destination and is set to become one of the top districts in India in terms of industrial development. The project is also aligned with India’s ambitious target of achieving 500 gigawatts of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

With infrastructure, policy support, and increasing investor interest, Andhra Pradesh is steadily evolving into a strategic clean energy hub, with projects like this playing a crucial role in shaping the future of India’s renewable energy sector.
