The new products have been developed at the AM/NS India’s plate mill facility in Hazira, Gujarat, using advanced rolling, heat-treatment and metallurgical control processes.
STRUCTROMAX has been developed using Thermo-Mechanical Controlled Processing (TMCP), a technology designed to deliver a combination of strength, toughness and weldability. The steel plates are aimed at applications including bridges, high-rise buildings, offshore projects, railways and wind energy infrastructure.
The company said the product is designed to support demanding structural applications where load-bearing performance, fabrication efficiency and durability are important considerations. Improved weldability is also expected to help fabricators manage complex construction and engineering requirements.
WELDSTAR, meanwhile, focuses on ultra-high-strength steel plates. The product range is intended for applications such as cranes, mining equipment, transportation systems and offshore projects.
The higher strength of the plates can allow equipment manufacturers and engineers to reduce structural weight while maintaining required safety and durability standards. This could help increase payload capacity, improve fuel efficiency and lower operating costs over the lifecycle of heavy equipment.
Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice President – Sales and Marketing at AM/NS India, said the country’s next phase of infrastructure and manufacturing expansion would require steel products offering higher strength, reliability and efficiency.
The launch also comes with a focus on the sustainability credentials of AM/NS India’s heavy plate portfolio. The company said its heavy plate products have received a three-star Green Steel certification under the Ministry of Steel’s Green Steel Taxonomy.
Introduced in December 2024, the framework classifies steel based on carbon emissions per tonne of finished steel and provides a standardised system for assessing the sustainability performance of steel products.
With STRUCTROMAX and WELDSTAR, AM/NS India is expanding its heavy plate offering for sectors ranging from infrastructure and industrial construction to mining, transportation and heavy engineering. The company expects the products to support the increasing demand for higher-performance steel solutions while strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities.
