AMNS India has taken a significant step in strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem by commissioning a new automotive steel production line at its Hazira facility in Gujarat. The development marks a major milestone in the company’s ongoing expansion strategy and reinforces its commitment to supporting the country’s self reliance goals.

The newly inaugurated Pickling Line and Tandem Cold Mill has a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum and is designed to produce high quality cold rolled steel. This includes advanced automotive grade steel that caters to the evolving requirements of India’s automobile sector. With rising demand for lightweight and high strength materials, the facility is expected to play a crucial role in reducing import dependence.

One of the key highlights of the new line is its ability to produce Advanced High Strength Steel. This category of steel is widely used in modern vehicles to improve safety, fuel efficiency and overall performance. By enabling domestic production of such specialised materials, AMNS India is positioning itself as a critical supplier to the automotive industry.

The facility is equipped with advanced technology and automation systems that align with global quality benchmarks. It will support a range of applications including galvanised and press hardened steel, which are essential components in next generation vehicles.

This development is part of the company’s broader Rs 60000 crore expansion programme at Hazira. The expansion aims to enhance both upstream and downstream capabilities, ensuring a more integrated and resilient supply chain.

Industry experts believe that India’s automotive steel demand is expected to grow steadily in the coming years. With vehicle production increasing and manufacturers shifting towards advanced materials, investments like this will be key in meeting future demand.

Overall, the commissioning of this facility reflects growing industrial collaboration and highlights India’s emergence as a strong global manufacturing hub.
