Amazon India has partnered with the Telangana government to establish five Ashray centres across Hyderabad, marking a significant step towards strengthening community infrastructure in one of India’s fastest-growing metropolitan cities.

The initiative will be implemented through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Amazon India and the Telangana government. Under the agreement, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation will identify suitable high-footfall locations, facilitate regulatory approvals, and coordinate with various government departments to support the development of the centres.

The proposed Ashray centres are intended to improve access to shelter and essential support services for people in busy public areas. By creating dedicated community spaces, the project aims to enhance urban infrastructure while addressing the needs of vulnerable sections of society.

Hyderabad has witnessed rapid urban expansion over the past decade, accompanied by rising demand for public amenities and social infrastructure. As commercial activity and population continue to grow, initiatives that complement civic infrastructure have become increasingly important. The Ashray centres are expected to contribute to this broader urban development agenda by providing accessible facilities in strategic locations across the city.

According to Amazon India, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment with the Telangana government to improve community infrastructure while expanding access to public support services. The partnership also highlights the growing role of private sector participation in supporting urban development projects alongside government agencies.

The Telangana government has been actively promoting public-private partnerships to improve infrastructure, encourage investment, and enhance the quality of life in urban centres. The latest collaboration aligns with these efforts by combining administrative support from the government with private sector resources to deliver community-focused infrastructure.

The project is expected to benefit thousands of people who visit major commercial and transport hubs across Hyderabad every day. Once operational, the five Ashray centres are likely to become an important addition to the city’s public infrastructure network while supporting Telangana’s vision of building more inclusive, accessible and sustainable urban spaces.
