L&T Wins Major Government Construction Projects in New Delhi and Amaravati
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured two government construction orders valued between ₹2,500 crore and ₹5,000 crore, adding to its portfolio of large-scale building infrastructure projects in India. The projects involve the construction of government office facilities in New Delhi and Amaravati, with a combined built-up area of 70.3 lakh square feet.
The two developments differ in scale and execution requirements, reflecting the continuing demand for large administrative buildings in the national capital and Andhra Pradesh’s planned capital region.
Common Central Secretariat Buildings in New Delhi
The first order, awarded by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), covers the construction of Common Central Secretariat buildings 4 and 5 along Kartavya Path in New Delhi.
The buildings will have a basement, ground floor and seven upper floors, with a combined built-up area of approximately 32.8 lakh square feet. L&T will execute the project on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, covering structural and architectural works, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, and external development works.
The construction is scheduled for completion within 24 months. The scope also includes five years of operation and maintenance after completion, extending the company’s involvement beyond the construction phase.
The Common Central Secretariat complex forms part of the broader redevelopment of government office infrastructure in New Delhi.
Two 47-Storey Office Towers in Amaravati
The second order has been awarded by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for two office towers planned on either side of the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre.
Each tower will form part of a development comprising a basement, ground floor and 47 upper floors. Together, the buildings will cover approximately 37.5 lakh square feet.
L&T will undertake the project through a design-build arrangement, with work covering the shell and core of the buildings. The project is scheduled for completion within 30 months.
The development adds to the planned administrative and institutional infrastructure in Amaravati, where government facilities are central to the city’s long-term development.
Combined Project Area Exceeds 70 Lakh Square Feet
Together, the two orders account for 70.3 lakh square feet of built-up area. Their execution will involve different construction timelines, technical requirements and contractual responsibilities, including long-term maintenance for the New Delhi project.
The orders strengthen L&T’s presence in India’s government building infrastructure segment, spanning established administrative facilities in the national capital and major planned developments in Andhra Pradesh.
